Mission Statement:
Academic Quiz Bowl is one of the sponsored Activities at Cistercian Prep. QB is an enjoyable way to compete in "quick answer" competition using a sophisticated Buzzer System that accurately determines the order of respondents. About 15% of CPS high school students participate in QB.
QB is the only school-sponsored Activity that goes to regional competitions frequently in Oklahoma, Kansas, Louisiana, and, of course, Texas.

Kinds of Quiz Bowl Activities at CPS:
Cistercian annually competes in three forms of academic challenge:
A. North Texas Area Whiz Quiz League
This group of 24 area high schools competes on a monthly basis using
a school vs. school format.

B. Knowledge Master Open [KMO]
One of our most popular team events is the KMO in December and in April.
Students of ANY level in the high school may join and compete.

C. Invitational Tournament Competition
Cistercian Prep spends most of its time and energy traveling to Saturday,
all-day competitions in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and elsewhere.

Keys to Success in Quiz Bowl:
1. Regularly attending practices, currently on Tuesdays and Fridays.
2. After school practice is currently available on Wednesdays in Fr. Gregory's office.
3. A QB STUDY GUIDE is available to all students at the cost of only $ 10.00.

4. Out-of-Town Tournaments provide vital practice and experience. Students who want to do well
are encouraged to go to as many advertised tournaments as possible.

We are continually in need of parents who are willing to sacrifice a week-end of their time to get our students to and from competitions. If you can help, either as a regular driver or only on a specific date, please let me know via E-mail
BACKGROUND CHECK
Anyone working with CPS students needs to comply with the "Safe Environment" policies of the school. There are
TWO FORMS that need to be filled out AT LEAST TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE DATE OF THE GIVEN EVENT!
