Abbatial Benediction

Please join us for the Abbatial Benediction of Fr. Peter on Thursday, April 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the Abbey Church. Since we expect more guests than the Church can hold, we will also have a tent outside with a live stream of the Mass. There will be a reception immediately following in the Abbey Courtyard. We are looking forward to a wonderful day for the community.

Upper School Drama

The Upper School Spring Drama* is quickly approaching. David Patrick '86 makes his Cistercian directorial debut with Scapino!, a fun-filled frolic in a liberal adaptation of Moliere's Les Fourberies de Scapin. It's a revival of sorts as Jonathan Leach made his very own Cistercian directorial debut with the very same play in 1990. You will laugh, you will cry, you will see Italian food adapted to lyrics.

Performances are Friday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, April 14, at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, April 15, at 2:30 p.m. For more information and to make reservations, contact David Patrick '86 at dpatrick@cistercian.org or 469-499-5448.

Register for Golf Tournament

Can't decide how to officially celebrate the 50th anniversary of the School? Need a reason to work on your swing? Want to have fun while helping Cistercian fund scholarships?

If you said yes to any of these questions, please click here to register for the 10th Hawks Booster Club and Alumni Golf Tournament on Friday, June 1st.

Register before May 1st, and your tournament fee is reduced -- $150 for adults and $120 for students. After that date, the cost increases to $175 for adults and $140 for students. Entry fee includes green fees, cart, range balls and dinner.

Come out and participate in our four-player Florida Scramble at Bear Creek Golf Club (near DFW Airport). For those not playing golf, please join us for the awards dinner following the tournament. Dinner is $20 and may be purchased on the registration page.

Registration begins at 1:00 p.m.

Shotgun Start at 2:00 p.m.

Awards Dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Proceeds will benefit the Tom Hillary and Colin Stone '13 Scholarships.

Happy Hour

Please join the Alumni Association Board for happy hour on Thursday, May 3, after 5:30 p.m. at Katy Trail Ice House (3136B Routh Street). This is a casual event with no official program. You can drop by and stay for awhile or just stop by to say hi.

Reunions Weekend - June 1-3

Reunions Weekend is coming soon - June 1-3. Official Class Reunions will be held for '72, '77, '82, '87, '92, '97, '02, and '07, so get in touch with your class agent to find out about special events.

Since we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the School, we have planned more events and hope for enthusiastic alumni and alumni parent participation from all classes. All Alumni, their families, and Alumni Parents are welcome to attend all events.

Cistercian Architecture Presentation on YouTube

Last month, the School invited Lyle Novinski (Artist, Chairman Emeritus of Art for the University of Dallas, Alumni Parent and Grandparent) and Gary Cunningham '72 (noted local architect and architect of many CPS buildings) to speak to Upper School Students about the School's architectural history.

The presentations were motivated both by the desire to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the School and by the opportunity to further incorporate arts into the School's curriculum. We are certain you will find this presentation interesting and learn more about the School and Abbey's architecture.

Quiz Bowl Team Ranked #14 Nationally

On March 3, Cistercian's Academic Quiz Bowl teams defeated two of the top-ranked teams in the US to win the 4th Annual St. Mark's Invitational in Dallas. By defeating LASA (Liberal Arts & Sciences Academy / Austin) and Seven Lakes HS (Katy, TX), the Cistercian 'A' team moved up to 14th place nationally. Along with our 'A' team, our 'B' and 'C' teams finished in a very respectable tie for 9th place.

We are thrilled to announce that the Quiz Bowl teams will be in attendance at Reunions Weekend. This is your chance to see if you are smarter than a Cistercian Upper School Student!

Reflections 2011 Received Award

Reflections 2011 was chosen as one of only 13 high school magazines in the country to win the Gold Crown, which is given out by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and is the most prestigious award of its kind. Our very own Editor-in-Chief Zach Horton '11 was in New York to attend the ceremony and receive the award, which Cistercian last received in 2007. Zach immediately contacted his fellow editors, Andrew Skaras '11 and Alec Radford '11, who were unable to attend the ceremony but were just as excited to hear that their publication had won.
