  • North Texas Giving Day

THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to Cistercian through North Texas Giving Day!!! Once again, the strength of the Cistercian community shown bright for all of North Texas to see.

The response from current parents, alumni, and alumni parents was absolutely overwhelming, with $672,681 raised from 767 donors! Amazingly enough, this is yet another new record fundraising day for the School. The Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) will provide an additional percentage of bonus funds on top of the money we raised yesterday, so our final number will be even higher.

Thank you! We sincerely appreciate such a strong show of support in helping us to continue our mission of educating fine young men in the Cistercian tradition.

  • Alumni/Alumni Parent Homecoming Reception
Friday, October 6 after the Football Game

Join fellow alumni and alumni parents to relax and wind down after the homecoming game, and enjoy snacks, beverages, and great conversation. If renovations to the Science Building are complete, we will gather there on the rooftop patio to enjoy an evening under the stars. If not, let the string lights be your guide and look for us on the Middle School porch just like past years. Regardless of where we end up that night, Tim Parker '90 will be happy to give tours of the Science Building.

Hope to see you at Homecoming 2017! Go Hawks!!

  • Cistercian Literary Club
    Wednesday, November 15 at 5:30 p.m.

Barry McCain '02 and Andrew Kahn '95 will host the Cistercian Literary Club's fall gathering at the Old Monk on Wednesday, November 15, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The Beautiful and Damned, first published by Scribner's in 1922, is F. Scott Fitzgerald's second novel. It portrays the Eastern elite during the Jazz Age, exploring New York café society. As in Fitzgerald's other novels, the characters are complex, especially with respect to marriage and intimacy. The book is believed to be largely based on Fitzgerald's relationship with Zelda Fitzgerald. The Beautiful and Damned tells the story of Anthony Patch, a 1910s socialite and presumptive heir to a tycoon's fortune, his relationship with his wife, Gloria, his service in the army, and his alcoholism.

An engaging read, interesting discussion, and cooler weather--not a bad way to spend a Wednesday evening. Hope to see you at the Old Monk!

  • Jim and Lynn Moroney Award Dinner
    Saturday, January 20, 2018

We are honored to announce that Tom Pruit will receive an honorary Cistercian diploma at the 2018 Jim and Lynn Moroney Award Dinner. The dinner will be held at the Tower Club at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018.

So that we can fully honor Dr. Pruit and his service to the School, we will not award the typical Jim and Lynn Moroney Award to an alumnus this year. The traditional spirit of this evening will remain the same since the award is given to one "whose spiritual commitment to Cistercian is very much aflame and whose dedicated work on behalf of the Cistercian family enkindles our hope for the future." Dr. Pruit exemplifies this spirit.

Invitations will be mailed in early January, but mark your calendar now!
