News from the Novitiate
The novitiate is a yearlong period of formation and discernment. During the novitiate the novice learns the daily routine of our monastery, gets to know the community, studies several areas of theology, and lays the foundation for his lifelong growth in the spiritual life. His schedule balances prayer, study, and work with opportunities for recreation with the other members of the community.
To give more of an insight into the life of a novice in our monastery, we have posted below the guidelines for the novitiate, which elaborate the goals and daily routine of a novice. We will also post periodic samples of the novices’ essays. Though the responses are personal, we hope they will help others striving to understand God’s ways of dealing with us.
